The standard polite form you use in daily conversation. Essential for N5.

The polite form (丁寧形) is used in daily conversation with people you don't know well, at work, or in formal situations. It ends in ます (present). Past polite is ました (covered in the Past lesson).
Rules
- Godan: Change the last syllable to the い-row and add ます. 書く → かきます, 飲む → のみます.
- Ichidan: Drop る and add ます. 食べる → 食べます, 見る → 見ます.
- する: します. 勉強する → 勉強します.
- 来る:来ます (きます).
