~とみえて

It seems that; apparently

At a glance

~とみえて means "it seems that ~, (because) ~". The speaker makes a guess in the first clause, then gives the fact they can see that supports it. It is mostly used in writing and formal speech.

[Guess: plain form] とみえて、[Observed fact]。

雨あめが降ふったとみえて、道みちが濡ぬれている。 It seems it rained; the road is wet.

How to form it

い-adjective Plain form 忙いそがしいとみえて
な-adjective Stem (+ だ) 暇ひまとみえて / 暇ひまだとみえて
