Verbる べく

Expresses the meaning of 'in order to', 'for the purpose of'.

At a glance

Verbる べく means "in order to" or "with the aim of". It is a formal, written expression used in news, reports and speeches to state the purpose behind a deliberate action.

Verb (dictionary form) + べく、[main clause]

彼かれは医者いしゃになるべく、毎日まいにち勉強べんきょうしている。 He studies every day in order to become a doctor.

How to form it

Put べく after the dictionary form of the verb. べく itself does not change.

る-verb 集あつめる 集あつめるべく
