Verb もしないで

Means 'without even doing'.

At a glance

Verb もしないで means "without even doing". It stresses that someone skipped a basic or expected action before doing something else, and it often shows criticism or surprise.

Verb stem + も + しないで + main action
Noun (する-verb) + も + しないで + main action

彼かれは説明書せつめいしょを読よみもしないで、機械きかいを使つかい始はじめた。 He started using the machine without even reading the manual.

How to form it

Take the verb stem (the masu-form without ます), add も, then しないで. For する-verbs, も goes directly after the noun.

Verb group Dictionary form もしないで Formal (もせずに)

る-verb 見みる 見みもしないで 見みもせずに
する-verb 確認かくにんする 確認かくにんもしないで 確認かくにんもせずに

もしないで does not change for tense or politeness. The main action at the end carries them: 読よみもしないで捨すてた / 読よみもしないで捨すてました.
