How to form it
| Position | Pattern | Example | Register |
|---|---|---|---|
| Start of sentence | A。だが、B。 | 雨が降った。だが、試合は続いた。 | Written, plain style |
| End of clause after a noun or な-adjective | Noun / な-adj + だが、B | この部屋は静かだが、駅から遠い。 | Written, plain style |
Verbs and い-adjectives do not take だ. Inside a sentence they connect with が directly: 高いが, 行くが.
