How to form it
The first verb is in dictionary form. The second is the same verb in the まい form:
| Verb group | まい form | Pattern |
|---|---|---|
| う-verb | dictionary form + まい: 行くまい | 行くか行くまいか |
| る-verb | stem + まい: 食べまい (also 食べるまい) | 食べるか食べまいか |
| する | するまい (also しまい, すまい) | するかするまいか |
| 来る | 来るまい (also 来まい) | 来るか来るまいか |
For う-verbs, keep the full dictionary form: 帰るまい, 書くまい. The following verb carries tense and politeness: 迷っています, 迷った.
