~せてください

Requesting someone to allow or let you do something (causative request).

At a glance

~せてください means "please let me do ~". You use it to ask someone to allow you to do something yourself.

Verb (causative て-form) + ください

少すこし休やすませてください。 Please let me rest a little.

How to form it

Make the causative form, change it to the て-form, then add ください.

Verb group Dictionary form Causative ~せてください
う-verb 書かく 書かかせる 書かかせてください
う-verb 待まつ 待またせる 待またせてください
う-verb (う ending) 使つかう 使つかわせる 使つかわせてください
る-verb 食たべる 食たべさせる 食たべさせてください
する する させる させてください
来くる 来くる 来こさせる 来こさせてください
  • う-verbs change the last sound to the あ-row and add せる. A verb ending in う changes to わ, not あ.
  • する-nouns work the same way: 説明せつめいする → 説明せつめいさせてください.
  • Casual form: drop ください. 考かんがえさせて。
