We feature a Spaced Repetition System (SRS) for efficient vocabulary and grammar retention, complete JLPT content from N5 to N1, interactive island building that gamifies your learning journey, comprehensive progress tracking for kanas, vocabulary, grammar, and kanji, fun practice games, and a learning roadmap that guides you from beginner to advanced. Built by Japanese learners, for Japanese learners. We've tried many tools and created Nihondex to include every feature we wished existed.
Yes! Nihondex works great on mobile devices as a PWA (Progressive Web App). On iOS (iPhone/iPad), you can use Safari's "Add to Home Screen" feature. On Android, you can install directly from Chrome or your browser. Desktop users can install from Chrome, Edge, or other modern browsers. Once installed, Nihondex works like a native app with offline capabilities. Native iOS and Android apps are also in development!
View Installation InstructionsAbsolutely! Nihondex is perfect for complete beginners. When you sign up, you'll go through an onboarding process that assesses your current Japanese level, sets up your personalized learning goals, guides you to start with kana (hiragana and katakana) if you're a beginner, and provides a learning roadmap that shows your path from basics to advanced. The app starts you with foundational kana practice and gradually introduces vocabulary, grammar, and kanji as you progress. You can learn at your own pace with content from JLPT N5 (beginner) all the way to N1 (advanced).

After your 7-day trial ends, you'll have two options: • Subscribe to Premium or Lifetime to keep unlimited access to all features including JLPT content, island building, SRS reviews, and unlimited learning. • Continue with a free account that has daily limits: - 5 words per day - 2 grammar points per day - 20 kanas per day - 20 reviews per day - 20 conjugations per day Free users also have restricted access to: - Premium minigames (Kanji Practice, Numbers Practice, Reading Practice, Sentence Builder, and Story Builder) - Island building and customization (view-only access) - Advanced progress tracking features like detailed statistics charts and knowledge distribution analytics You can subscribe at any time to regain full access. Yes! The Lifetime plan is a one-time payment that gives you permanent access to all current and future Premium features and updates, an exclusive lifetime member badge, exclusive island items only available to lifetime members, and no recurring charges ever. Your lifetime access is valid for the duration of Nihondex service operation. While we are committed to providing long-term service, lifetime access holders acknowledge that their access is valid only for as long as Nihondex continues to operate. All plans are subject to our Terms of Service.
