⚠️ Hard reset: change JLPT level

This is the hard reset. It deletes your progress on every JLPT level, not just the one you are leaving, and rebuilds it for the level you picked. It cannot be undone.

What will happen:

  • All vocabulary, grammar and kana progress is deleted, on every level
  • New content will be unlocked based on your selected level
  • Your learning recommendations will be updated

To confirm this change, please type change level below:

Soft reset N4 progress?

This marks your selected N4 content as unlearned and deletes its review history. Nothing outside N4 is touched. It cannot be undone.

What will happen:

  • All N4 vocabulary goes back to unlearned, and its kanji stats follow
  • All N4 grammar points go back to unlearned
  • Every other JLPT level keeps its progress, and your current level does not change

Type 'reset n4' to confirm:

Mark Kanas as Known

This will mark every character of the selected scripts as known. Their existing progress will be reset.

What will happen:

  • Existing review history for the selected scripts will be deleted
  • Selected kanas will be marked as known (100% accuracy)

Before you go

Most people who delete their account are trying to fix one of these. You probably don't need to start over.

Do I have to pay after the free trial?

No. Nihondex has a free version, and it stays free. When your trial ends you simply keep using Nihondex without the premium extras, nothing is charged and no card is required.

I want to reset my progress and start fresh

No need for a new account. A hard reset (changing your JLPT level in settings) clears your progress on every level and unlocks the content for the level you pick. A soft reset clears one JLPT level and leaves the others alone. Either way you keep your streak, coins and history.

I already know hiragana and katakana

You can skip them. Mark all kana as known in settings and Nihondex will stop drilling you on them and move straight to kanji, vocabulary and grammar.
