~に もらいます

To receive something or some action from someone; 'to get', 'to receive'.

At a glance

~にもらいます means "to receive (something) from someone". The receiver is the subject, and the person who gives is marked with に.

[Receiver] は [Giver] に [Thing] を もらいます。

私わたしは友ともだちにプレゼントをもらいました。 I received a present from a friend.

How to form it

The giver takes に and the thing takes を. もらう is a う-verb and conjugates like this:

Form Polite Casual
Present もらいます もらう
Negative もらいません もらわない
Past もらいました もらった
Past negative もらいませんでした もらわなかった

The receiver (私わたしは) is often left out when it is clear from context.
