Noun を あげる

To give something to someone; 'give', 'offer', 'present'.

At a glance

Noun を あげる means "to give (something) to someone". It is used when the speaker, or someone else, gives something to another person, not to the speaker.

[Giver] は [Receiver] に [Noun] を あげる。

私わたしは友ともだちにプレゼントをあげました。 I gave my friend a present.

How to form it

The receiver takes に and the thing given takes を. あげる is a る-verb and conjugates like this:

Form Polite Casual
Present あげます あげる
Negative あげません あげない
Past あげました あげた
Past negative あげませんでした あげなかった

The giver is marked with は (or が) and is often left out when it is clear from context.
